Mp#1 Ejector Cylinder Leak

Mp#1 went down Thursday evening because of significant oil leaking from between the ram cylinder and the platen that the ejector cylinder is mounted to.

The mold is out now and oil has been cleaned up. I am not sure if the entire ejector block must be removed or if there is a trick to making an easier repair. When Kenny Hoskins comes in I will consult with his expertise on the matter.

I will post more soon.

  1. This turned out to be the ejector cylinder. The screws had backed out and caused one of the hard line fittings to loosen. This was the cause of the oil leaking. We reinstalled the screws using Loctite and extra torque. Had it fixed in under an hour or so. Thanks for your help Kenny!

  2. Initially, the injection moulding machines used the pressure technology to give the needed end products. This graduated to pneumatic cylinders and then the hydraulic systems which also borrowed from the die cast technology. The modern machines use the injection barrel of a plunging helical screw because it is fast and efficient. 2k injection molding
